I appreciate the integration of layers. The pre-loaded layers are very helpful, and it's great that we can manually upload our own layers. This way, we can ensure we have all the information we need when choosing, or eliminating, a site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some layers take longer to load than others. I wish there was a way to localize the toggling of a layer to a certain area, that way my computer doesn't slow down. Additionally, I wish there was a way to open links in new tabs from within PVP. For example, if I wanted to open a bunch of different projects in different tabs, I have to renavigate to the Project page in each tab over and over again, instead of going there once and opening each project in a new tab. So many different data sources being in one place from a wide variety of sources. Quickly reviewing a site and getting a good idea of potential concerns for development. Ability to store large amounts of information and details across multiple states. Specific state layers are also awesome and help with looking at solutions from a more micro perspective. Also, constant updates are amazing. The team at PVcase is always innovating and trying to make our job easier. The contact searching feature and recently added zoning feature have been amazing. Some features can be buggy and slow to load. Sometimes certain features do not work which can be frustrating. Some tools do not behave as you would expect (recently, adding an electric line from another project has only added a segment and deleted the rest of the segment). The ability to see parcels, run buildability analyses, see features from layers (such as tranmission lines, exisiting wind turbines, slopes, etc) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PVcase is absolutely the worst user interface I have ever interacted with. The software is slow and completely uncustomisable and editing abilities are half-built out. It feels like someone tried to make a really great software but stopped 70% of the way there. For example, you can create superparcels (great) but you can't edit them if you accidentally make a mistake (I frequently accidentally include or exclude extra parecls because the software is so slow and glitchy that I'm unsure if a parcel I selected was actually included). You can run buildability analysis but can't run them on groups and superparcels are frustrating to work with. Sometimes the menu gives me the option to edit styles and colours, other times I fullly have to try again another day for it to work. You can also add some features to a project (like parcels and substaions) but not others (such as wind turbines). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been using PVcase Prospect for the past couple of months. I really like the platform as it has pretty comprehensive suites of tools at my disposal. Prospect has several key strengths - Zoning layers, transmission corridors, constraint maps and sharp visuals among others. Customer support has also been great. There is little to no load/lag time. None at this time, its only been a couple months since I started using the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can identify the slopes, wetlands/streams, roads, overhead lines and floodzones on a site at an early stage and create the buildable area based on our preferences of setbacks or even if we want to avoid a certain area. It is also easy to export/import in Ground Mount to speed up the design process. Whenever I have a question I can always ask the support team and they are usually really good at responding. The method to avoid having a setback from the boundary in contiguous parcels is not straight forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The amount of data provided is helpful in learning more about the process overall. It's very detailed and has more layers than I'm used to. The customer support is also wonderful with quick responses. I have to use this everyday and I'm getting more familiar. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I believe for my role in Site Origination, it has more information that I typically need so feels overwhelming at times Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PVcase Prospect is a great platform with a very easy user interface. The UI is what keeps us coming back over other products. Plus, the customer service is so quick, everyone is so helpful whenever an issue comes up. They are always trying to improve the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the new PVcase interface is not quite as good as the old one, in terms of finding my projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of use is probably the best aspect. I was able to show a new higher how to use the platform in hours. I also love the layers that give me the information I need to make an informed decision. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would love to have zoning and ordinances available on the platform. Plus, a little more geared towards BESS would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ability to add large parcel data sets and filter by a specific set of criteria. The customer support is also excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The map / table interface can be a little clunky and the user experience could be improved by introducing a more simplistic design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* Large library of layers available for use
* Easy to add/export data in KML and CSV format
* Large selection of parcel specific dataset - this isn't a natural given in Esri technology and I like that AO has this specific feature for prospecting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* Website a bit clunky, specifically within the attribute table/division of data
* Not very inituitive for a first time user Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
